Body earth connection

There is a wonderful symbiotic relationship between the earth and our bodies. The earth provides us with food, water and oxygen and we care for the earth - or at least we should care for it. It is important to find a way to care for ourselves while still caring for the earth.

Drink herbal infusions

Nourishing herbs are filled with vitamins and minerals and feed our bodies on many levels. They are mild and are not prone to causing side effects. My favorites so far are nettle, oatstraw and chickweed. I make infusions from them and have been drinking them for about a month now. I find I have more energy, feel less depressed and feel motivated in my life again.

To make an herbal infusion, place one ounce of dried herb in a quart jar and pour boiling water over the herbs to fill the jar. Place a lid on and let sit for 4-8 hours. Strain the liquid off and keep in the refrigerator.

Looking for normalcy

We live in a world where we look for symptoms. Does what is happening in my body look like a particular set of symptoms? Am I getting sick? It seems we are always looking, in part, for what is wrong rather than what is right with our bodies.

The choice for gray hair

I found my first gray hair in my early twenties but until a couple of years ago have colored to keep them covered. Then I decided to go natural. It worked until I saw the pictures from my Mother's 70th birthday party. I panicked and colored again. That lasted about 6 months and then a couple of months ago I got tired of the fake color. You see, I'm almost totally gray and no matter whether the color is done professionally or not, the color turns odd pretty quickly. So, I took the razor I use to cut my other half's hair, put on the 1" attachment and shaved my hair off.

Be kind to yourself

I started this year with the idea that I wanted to look sexy for my upcoming 50th birthday. I teamed with my Mom and my daughter in an effort to support one another in losing weight and getting healthy.
