Spiritual connection

What is that we do to stay connected to one another and to our spiritual nature? How do we maintain a spiritual perspective in a busy world? How do we build connections within our families and in our community?

Build an ARK

We watched Evan Almighty last evening. It's a bit of a quirky movie but with a great message and certainly feel good viewing. Evan Baxter played by Steve Carell runs for Congress on a platform of "Change the World". After he wins, God, played by Morgan Freeman asks Evan to build an ark.

Though he does build the ark and it is put to good use, the ending message is that ark really stands for "Act of Random Kindness". It's how we can each change the world. And, ironically, it goes back to another post Be Kind, Not Right.

Listening to the voice of fear

It was three weeks before Christmas 2004 when my whole world changed. My son, Samuel, and I worked together for the same internet-based company. Each Tuesday morning, the entire company held a conference call to ensure we were all up to date with the happenings within the company. This Tuesday, Samuel did not join the call. As he was normally one of the first on, making jokes while we waited for others, I found this highly unusual. As the call progressed, I attempted to contact him by cell phone and by instant message.

Giving Back

So I sit here tonigh watching my usual American Idol. I watched the same thing last year. Sitting back and enjoying all the performances of my favorite artists. This year it is touching me differently. To open my eyes to how people in other parts of the world are suffering.

Is it fate?

I have recently been drawn back to a spiritual place. Thinking I should get into things such as yoga to get in touch with my mind and spirit. I bought a new CD by my favorite Christian artist. The songs talk to me in so many ways. Since I was very little music has been my life. My favorite songs often speak about my life in that moment of time. Well I've also been listening to Gospel Music Channel, on Cable TV in the mornings. It feels great to drink my coffee while listening to such uplifting music. My favorite artist right now is Natalie Grant.
