Be kind, not right

Years ago, I watched a special by Wayne Dyer on PBS. One of the items he spoke about was to be kind instead of right. A few days after watching the special, my 17 year old daughter called to say that she had something important to talk with me about when I got home.

I arrived home from work and she tearfully told me she was pregnant. The words, "be kind, not right" echoed in my mind. They guided my actions over the next several days as we determined the best options for her. I was very grateful I had watched the speicial. Those words helped me to remember the importance of being loving and supportive in the midst of a difficult situation.

In any relationship it is easy to focus on our own needs. But, whenever I have remembered to be kind first, it has always helped to build stronger relationships.

Love You Mom

I was so scared that day. I was terrified of the future and what I was going to do. Having my mother completely support me was the best thing to happen to me. It gave me such a strong foundation. Who knows where I'd be today if that day hadn't gone like it did. Thank you!
